This week on the Junk Food Blog, it’s the most romantic Tuesday night of the year! No, not Halloween, smart @$* (though that is on a Tuesday this year). It’s Valentine’s Day, people. Break out the chocolates because carbs don’t count today! They’re definitely going to count tomorrow but that’s tomorrow you’s problem. I’ll tell you what does count today—love. I’m talking good old-fashioned chocolate-covered strawberries and rich chocolate cake dessert love mixed with a little bit of science and pug bathing. Trust me, just go with it (and read the rest of the blog or else that’s not going to make any sense whatsoever). Happy Valentine’s Day!

I should really probably stop saying positive assortative mating or I’m going to take a snooze myself. Well, maybe just one more time for the road—positive assortative mating refers to our biological tendency to couple with people similar to ourselves. From height, to weight, to ethnicity to facial features, we studies have shown time and again that we opt for people who remind us of…ourselves. Weird. But this isn’t always the case! Okay, if you watched the chocolate-covered strawberry hearts cake video and didn’t immediately run to the store to buy ingredients I can look past that. Maybe you don’t like strawberries. Maybe heart-shaped foods remind you of old zombie movies where the monsters eat hearts—I’m not here to judge. However, there is no excuse for anything other than a standing O for this hot chocolate magic cake by Tasting Table. I literally drooled when they poured the batter into the cake pan. TMI?! I just said I’m not here to judge and look at you casting aspersions on me like we haven’t bonded over hot chocolate magic cake or something. Sheesh. Just watch the video and ease up with all the judgement.
